Getting in the creative zone and staying there requires a little bit of practice and that means you need to boost the pace a little and get into a creativity cadence. Most creative people will tell you their creativity comes in spurts and if you've ever worked in retail sales at the cash register you know that the customers also come in spurts and that's OK. But I would like to talk to a little bit about creative cadence. You see if your business has customers who come in spurts rather than a constant line out the door 24 hours a day seven days a week then the answer would be to do a little marketing, advertising, public relations and maybe some publicity. The same thing holds true for creativity cadence. If you want the ideas to flow like water and come up with more ideas and constant creativity flow then you need to pick up the pace and it makes sense that you need to put into the system.Input into the system to increase creativity cadence, yes let’s talk about this and may I suggest to you that you vary your activities more? Go out of the way to do different things that you've never done before. Go to the library and pick up a book that you would never in a million years read and some skim thru it maybe read a chapter or a few paragraphs and the back cover. Then put it down for a bit and think and then go get another one.May I also suggest to you that you turn on the Discovery Channel, watch a foreign language channel, watch a movie that you would never watch or pick up a trade journal from an industry so foreign to you that you do not even understand the buzzwords. This is how you increase customers into your store or rather how you market idea is to your brain. This of course is philosophical thought, nevertheless it is proof of creativity cadence, because I just read a magazine for the Convenience Store Industry and how the customers flow in to the store in spurts. Do you see my point?Lance Winslow, a retired entrepreneur, adventurer, modern day philosopher and perpetual tourist.
