The heart of God the Father is that we His sons and daughters separate ourselves from that which defiles us and give ourselves increasingly to Him. In His own words the Lord exhorts His children saying, "Wherefore, come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty" (2 Cor. 6:17-18).As the believers at Antioch separated themselves from the cares of the world and that which diverted their affections from the Lord, the Spirit of God spoke specifically to them. While they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work unto which I have called them" (Acts 13:2). Here we see God's heart cry. He wants nothing more than undivided devotion from His people. A wholehearted lover who doesn't play the field and cheat on Him is what thrills the heart of God.To journey with God down the narrow path that enters into life, man must "separate" himself from that which detours him away from God and His high calling for his life. God's divine will for man can only be revealed once man has first separated himself from that which displeases the Lord. Because separating ourselves from the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life is demanding – few do so. Jesus knew that few would find the straight gate and narrow way which leads to life (Matt. 7:14). Worse than they who never find the narrow path are they who have found it, but yet choose not to walk on it.Thank God for the few who do seek and find the path of righteousness. Thank God for the few who do pay the price and endure hardness as good soldiers of the cross. It's amazing what God can do with a few. God can save by many or by few. In fact with God the minority often becomes a majority with whom no other can contend. When God is on your side, no matter your number you are always a majority.D.L. Moody was one man who separated himself unto God and enlisted in His army to save souls. American evangelist D.L. Moody in his humble beginning said, "The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated and committed to Him. And with God's help, I aim to be that man."Separation of the soul is sacred. It is a supreme and enduring sacrifice. It requires intense consistency and concentration. With such sacrifices God is well pleased.One servant of Christ who sacrificed himself fully on God's altar is Charles Finney. Among Charles Finney's closest friends was a stenographer who he knew for some years. He said of Finney, "The intensity and constancy of his ardour were surprising. The sacred fire seemed never to burn low."From the time of his conversion and his infilling with the Spirit, Finney was a man ablaze for God with holy boldness, a lawyer's directness, and constant guidance and anointing by the Holy Spirit. Usually wherever Finney preached, people quickly became convicted of their sins, humbled themselves in repentance before God, and received the assurance of salvation. His revivals spread from town to town like a creeping vine, and wherever he went new spiritual life came to individuals, churches, and communities.The key to our success is found in our daily routine.
