Tips for Buying an Online Store

Author : John Fairless
No one doubts that thousands and thousands of dollars are being made every single day by individuals and home workers with online stores. There is lots of information "out there" for people who would like to own their own store—too much information, in most cases! And it's awfully hard to tell who can be trusted and who is just interested in the next dollar from your pocket. There are a few things that you need to know if you are interested in owning your own online store. You CAN cash in on internet business, and you CAN do it without spending your life savings. There are many opportunities for you that cost less than $100; just keep these things in mind:(1.) Despite the many claims to the contrary, you will NOT get rich overnight; in fact, you will probably not get rich in just a few weeks or months. Internet businesses are a lot like "real world" businesses—it takes some hard work and some perseverance to succeed. Look for businesses that are honest about what it takes to make money. This will eliminate LOTS of headache…and "wallet-ache!"(2.) You absolutely CAN earn a very nice, steady stream of income with an internet business—even if you don't have your own computer or a web site! It's true—you can run an online business from the computer at your local library, at your school, or anywhere that you can get computer access. Just be sure to ask permission and always follow the rules. There is lots of help available, believe it or not.(3.) Be very wary of "business opportunities" that want you to put a lot of money into them on the front end; you should also be somewhat careful about businesses that don't charge you anything! A legitimate fee—usually less than $100—can actually be a good sign. It says that the company making the claims takes their business…and you…seriously. Now that you have some basic guidelines in place, you can start searching for opportunities that appeal to you. There are many free search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, and others that will give you plenty of ideas. Just type the website address into your browser-- such as Google.com, Yahoo.com, or MSN.com -- and you will see a "search window" appear. Then enter the terms you are looking for into the search window of the website. The more information you can enter, the better your results will probably be. If you type in "internet business"—a very broad term—you will get several million choices. That can be overwhelming! But if you are looking for a business related to coffee, you might type in "online coffee business"—you'll still get lots of choices, but they'll be much easier to sort through.Best of luck as you enter the world of online business. May your clicks be many and your sales be great!Dr. John Fairless is an online entrepeneur and author of Building Wealth Everyday, available at
